The British star treats dance music with as much respect and integrity as he does acting. As people shuffle their way through the snaking access barriers that lead into Coachella's Yuma Tent - the illustrious festival's growing house and techno haven - one reveler turns to the other. 'You mean like the movie star? That's who we are seeing?' Her friends nod and begin to explain before reaching the entrance to the full-toned dance arena. Tale Of Us are wrapping and our new selector plays out a Will Clarke remix of one of his latest singles, 'Badman'. It's almost though he's introducing himself through the sonics. This badman is about to throw down.
Let's face it: everyone wants to get paid. The music industry has always been a bit of a tricky one to navigate when it comes to money, and when you add new technologies like streaming into the mix - it's not getting any simpler. We've worked with enough labels and artists to understand where the problems in processing royalties arise, and as you can imagine, we've got a solution to make your life easier: Royalty Worx.

We love any event that brings the industry together, and next week there are two big ones taking place. With plenty of sun, sea and unlimited networking opportunities, it's not surprising that Ibiza's IMS is one of our favourite conferences of the year, whilst over in Detroit, Movement will be ticking boxes for techno-lovers from all over the world.

ERA represents the interests of members who include an array of physical and digital music retailers, such as Deezer, Spotify, SoundCloud, Amazon, HMV and Google. (MBW is proud to be a forum for open debate, but that doesn't mean we have to agree with every single thing argued within these columns, obvs.)

The secrets to a successful social media strategy as a DJ and Producer Some people love social media and other people don't - we get it, really we do! However, musical talent alone just doesn't cut it these days. You also need to be a master at marketing yourself, your brand and your music. You might not like it, but your social media is your shop window - it's the first place people will look when you contact them and if it's out of date and looking amateur, unfortunately it reflects on your music.

SoundCloud has launched new DJ software integration with VirtualDJ. The new offering allows users to stream and mix the entire SoundCloud catalogue of tracks on the fly, building mixes within Virtual DJ once they have enabled the functionality, providing they have a SoundCloud Go+ subscription. The move is part of a wider family of direct streaming offerings which we reported were in the pipeline last year as the platform looks to increase its appeal amongst the dance music community. More proof that streaming is poised to take over DJ booths across the world, a prediction DJ Mag made back in July 2018.
Suicide Club combines DJs with dining, and Dutch reserve with dancefloor enthusiasm. The Groot Handelsgebouw building - an eight-storey office block and an architectural symbol of post-war Rotterdam - is an odd setting for a night that showcases some of Holland's leading underground DJs. But then the Suicide Club is an unusual night. Arriving on the eighth floor we exit the lift facing an open kitchen, food service still in full swing. Ambient jazz fills the air above the murmer of conversation and clatter of plates and glasses. With room for 200, the club is small, with a round bar, decorated in turquoise tiles, in the middle. Wrought iron modular shelving sits above it, a few sections filled with ornate stained glass. Warm, low hanging lights sit above the tables. So far, so gastro. Has this place really played host to the likes of Carista, Luke van Dijk and DJ Deeon (and tonight, local hero De Sluwe Vos)?
