Songstats Q&A

We all know that data is king - but with so many different platforms and sources all offering a mind-boggling amount of information, the challenge is making sense of it all. That's where Songstats comes in, the new app from the team behind 1001Tracklists. Songstats compiles essential playlist, chart and stream data for artists, labels and industry professionals, to give you real-time insights on the performance of each release. We caught up with Oskar Eichler from Songstats/1001Tracklists to find out more about how the app works...

We have secured an exclusive 20% discount on Songstats subscriptions for Label Worx customers which is available via the dashboard HERE.

The new app sounds incredible - how would you sum up Songstats to someone who has never heard of it?

Think of Songstats as the all-in-one home for your music data. Anything that happens to your tracks across the most important streaming services and download stores will show up here. It's the result of your hard work, and also the opportunity to grow even further.

Which features are you most excited about artists and labels being able to use?

Push notifications on the Songstats mobile app are awesome to always stay up to date and immediately see when one of your releases is being added to a new playlist, reaches a new chart or is being featured on any of the platforms. The ability to automatically generate custom story artworks for these accomplishments makes it as easy as two taps to share them directly with your fans.

What inspired you to start working on Songstats?

Songstats in its current form has been in the works for over three years, and the version that you see today is the result of a combination of ever developing ideas, great user feedback and a lot of work to keep improving the platform.

At its core, the idea behind Songstats was always to create a tool that empowers musical creators with the knowledge they need to amplify their careers. The app today does this better than ever before, by providing a comprehensive overview and real-time insights from over 30 million playlists and charts across Spotify, Apple Music, Shazam, Beatport, Traxsource, SoundCloud, iTunes and 1001Tracklists.

What are the key benefits that our labels would get from the Songstats app?

Songstats is a productivity tool. It helps you to save time and makes sure you never miss an important activity of any of your releases. Playlisted on Spotify? You will know right away. Entered the Beatport Hype Charts? Within one hour you get a notification. Songstats will make sure that you no longer have to search for all of those things, and highlights them for you in an easy and fun to use way.

How can the Songstats app fit into a label promo campaign?

Songstats is the centerpiece of all the promo work you are doing. From seeing exactly which DJs actually played your new release on 1001Tracklists, to features and charts you secured on Beatport and Traxsource, to pitches that resulted in playlist positions on Spotify and Apple Music. Songstats gives you the results of your work in real-time and is an endorphin machine that shows you immediately when a track is taking off!

How can the app help labels engage with their fans?

Right when the results of your promo campaigns start to roll in, Songstats helps you to build on that momentum and encourages you to be more proactive about sharing new milestones with your fans. It's great that your track got playlisted on Friday Cratediggers, but what is even more important is to not let that achievement go unnoticed. It's vital to share these activities, engage with your fans and recognize supporters, so that they feel acknowledged and continue to support your future releases.

Data is becoming more and more valuable - what kind of data does Songstats generate for labels that they can use in other areas?

Songstats allows labels to export PDF reports across all data sources with the simple click of a button. It's the fastest way to get a full picture of track performance, and can be shared directly with artists and their teams.

If you had to pick one advantage that labels using Songstats would have over ones that don't, what would it be?

Labels that are using Songstats are on top of everything! They save time by being presented with the most important accomplishments of their releases and never miss an opportunity to build on that momentum. It's an affordable productivity tool that enhances their workflow with powerful tools and delivers them the notifications they care most about.
