How VK can help your record label!

Have you heard of VK?
If your answer is no, then don't worry as you're about to find out.

Firstly, VK is the largest social network not only in Russia but in several neighbouring countries too. Very impressive right? Well, we think so. VK's average audience in just one month is 97 million visitors, whilst having more than 410 million registered users. That's a huge audience, which your label could be utilising.

Now, you're probably thinking...

What makes it different from any other social network?

The reason it is different to e.g. Facebook is that it has an integrated streaming service, with social web features used alongside the platform.

Additionally, VK can monetise the music being listened to on the platform, which helps with tracking the success of your label's music. VK is one of the main platforms in which people search, like, share and stream in Russia. We should also mention, if you put focus on properly managing your VK presence, it could increase your label revenue.

How to use VK to promote your label
All promotion is determined on the pitching success of your music to curators within the groups and communities. VK communities are very active, un-spammed and popular to say the least. With tens of thousands of Russian users going out of their way to find new music and various genres on VK.

How to pitch your labels music

  • Register for an account or use Facebook for sign up here.

  • Use the search graph to find target communities. There are two community types, moderated and open. Both have their advantages: open is easier for pitching music, but moderated is more likely to be most effective for the purpose. The best way is to play around and make the right decision based on what your label needs.

  • Submit your music. Find the 'Add Post' function (for open, not moderated groups) or 'Suggest Post' (for administrated pages) for submitting your post.

How to create an effective post

  • Attach cover art, description and audio track (don't add a download link to Beatport or a Fanlink).

  • To link a track, click the music note symbol, then search for and select the track you want to add. If you are a Label Worx distribution customer, your tracks should appear in this list automatically.

  • Once it is public or approved, the post will be in your timeline and then the actions can begin. Subscribers can now listen, comment, like and share. Pst... this can sometimes lead to viral coverage.

  • Another smart feature is that VK algorithms (Content ID) auto-detect any illegal uploads of your music, and if its distributed through LW it starts monetising it. It's very clever!

Now, what are you waiting for?
All Label Worx customers can seize this opportunity by taking advantage of VK and the amazing possibilities it has to offer for your record label.
