How Does Facebook & Instagram Use My Content
Posted By : Alex Powell

Posted Date : September 6th, 2018
We have entered into a deal with Facebook to work with, develop and implement a rights management and royalty payment/reporting system.

We are currently delivering all content to Facebooks Audio Library. The Audio Library is the central hub which Facebook will be exploring many different ways to bring music to the Facebook community. So far these include;

Share Videos with Music on Facebook
Facebook is working to enable people around the world to include music in their videos on Facebook, opening up more options for creativity and sharing memories with friends and family. Facebook is testing this in several markets currently.

Lip Sync Live

Facebook is starting to roll out Lip Sync Live, which lets you lip sync to songs. To try it out, choose the Lip Sync Live option when starting your Live video. After selecting a song from the song list, you can also add a description and customise your video with masks or a background. When broadcasting with Lip Sync Live, friends will see the artist and song highlighted on the video and can tap to follow the artist on Facebook.

Instagram Music Stories
Similar to adding emojis/GIFs, users will now have the option to add music by tapping on the sticker icon - searching/browsing for a song, selecting the best segment to match their story - and posting. When friends watch the story, they'll hear the clip the user chose playing over their photo or video. They'll also see a sticker with the song title and artist name.

IMPORTANT
Facebook are rolling out these features out over a period of time - starting with iOS, with Android following. Additionally, they will be adding more songs on a regular basis and, as such, you may not see your titles included right now. Facebook has assured us that they are working hard to activate Audio Library feeds and match recordings with publishing data, prioritising top performing content. There is no defined timeline, however, more content will be made available in the near future as this product is rolled out further.

If you have any questions regarding your content and these platforms. Contact our team.

Beatport LINK - a new subscription music streaming service for DJs

Beatport LINK is a monthly music streaming subscription for DJs, similar integration than Soundcloud and Tidal in Serato. Beatport LINK put's Beatport's extensive electronic music catalog available to stream audio (AAC 128kbps and 256 kbps quality) into their Pro DJ software platforms of choice. Users can test new tracks with their existing collection and save the tracks in a locker or purchase the tracks they want to keep for offline use. In addition, they can use the features provided by their software and hardware setups (ie. effects). This product is intended to audition music and complement to professional/club use. If the user wants to DJ in the club he can use the offline locker plan or alternatively purchase the file (purchasing of the files is encouraged to ensure stability as in this type of environment isn't consistently reliable). There are three plans available which are; 1. Beatport LINK: 128 kbps AAC for $14,99/month with no offline locker 2. Beatport LINK PRO: 256 kbps AAC for $39,99/month with a offline locker limited to 50 tracks 3. Beatport LINK PRO+: 256 kbps AAC for $59,99/month with a offline locker limited to 100 tracks Additionally the full Beatport CLOUD service is included in Beatport LINK subscriptions which unlocks unlimited re-downloads of previously purchased music and greater control of track previews with a needle drop feature. This is a huge development from Beatport, which is one we are excited to see how it develops.

Enhancing Music with YouTube Playlists

Do you have it set up for monetisation? Are you on top of your playlists? If the answer to any of these questions is no, or you're not sure, then chances are that you're missing out on a potentially major source of income for your label.

The British star treats dance music with as much respect and integrity as he does acting. As people shuffle their way through the snaking access barriers that lead into Coachella's Yuma Tent - the illustrious festival's growing house and techno haven - one reveler turns to the other. 'You mean like the movie star? That's who we are seeing?' Her friends nod and begin to explain before reaching the entrance to the full-toned dance arena. Tale Of Us are wrapping and our new selector plays out a Will Clarke remix of one of his latest singles, 'Badman'. It's almost though he's introducing himself through the sonics. This badman is about to throw down.

The record industry is booming again but the digital services who reduced it deserve better

The following MBW blog comes from Kim Bayley (pictured), CEO of the UK's Entertainment Retailers Association (ERA). ERA represents the interests of members who include an array of physical and digital music retailers, such as Deezer, Spotify, SoundCloud, Amazon, HMV and Google. (MBW is proud to be a forum for open debate, but that doesn't mean we have to agree with every single thing argued within these columns, obvs.)
