Enhancing Music with YouTube Playlists

Did you know that for some labels we work with, YouTube is their biggest revenue stream? Yeah, we thought that might grab your attention! What's your YouTube channel looking like? Is it up to date? Do you have it set up for monetisation? Are you on top of your playlists? If the answer to any of these questions is no, or you're not sure, then chances are that you're missing out on a potentially major source of income for your label.

In the age of streaming, you really can't afford not to capitalise on a platform as big as YouTube, so naturally, Label Worx have a few tips to make sure that your channel is running at its full potential.

Consistency is key - as with so many other platforms, the secret to building a loyal fanbase and keeping those subscriber numbers up is consistency. That means uploading quality content regularly, and in a consistent format - from branding, description, and right down to the intro you use on videos. If your channel is in line with the rest of your social media channels, it looks a lot more credible and professional. The biggest YouTube stars upload new content daily, and while that won't be doable for most labels, it gives you an idea of where you should be aiming. For more info.

Playlists - if you're only able to upload new music weekly or even monthly, there's no reason to let that stop you keeping the channel updated. YouTube playlists are a great way to use content from other channels to keep people coming back to your own. Give them a theme and update regularly so that it drives traffic to them from the YouTube search bar. A handy guide on how to create one.

Monetise your content - this part is key if you're to turn your channel into a revenue stream, and something which is relatively easy to do - we've even got a handy guide to get you started. Click here. You can monetise content on YouTube through the videos on your own channel, or through your music being used on other videos. You need to make sure you fit the criteria in terms of rights and ownership, but we can help you keep on top of that - this is where organisation and ensuring you register your music correctly will pay off in the long term. Click here.

Share, Share, Share - if people don't know about your channel, it'll not grow quickly. Make sure you're encouraging artists to share links to the music you upload and the playlists you curate, and to work with other channels to cross-promote content where possible. YouTube is a platform that is expanding rapidly, so embrace it. If you're investing time and energy into it, you have a good chance of turning your channel into a reliable source of income and a great platform to promote and grow the label. Our advice? Take it seriously!
