Yandex is one of the largest technology companies in Russia and offers a number of internet related services and products including the fifth most popular search engine in the world. Yandex also operates, an on-demand subscription and ad-supported streaming service Yandex Music that is available on both desktop and mobile devices. The Service offers the following service tiers: (i) 'Ad-Supported Service' - an ad-supported, free to the end user streaming service, available in low audio quality and with limited functionality via mobile devices and with on-demand functionality via desktop devices. (ii) 'Premium Service' - monthly paid on-demand subscription service, that includes both streaming and tethered downloads (i.e. an 'offline mode'), available in standard audio quality via desktop and mobile devices. We are delighted to announce our new partnership with Yandex and excited to see how this develops in the coming months.
SoundCloud has launched new DJ software integration with VirtualDJ. The new offering allows users to stream and mix the entire SoundCloud catalogue of tracks on the fly, building mixes within Virtual DJ once they have enabled the functionality, providing they have a SoundCloud Go+ subscription. The move is part of a wider family of direct streaming offerings which we reported were in the pipeline last year as the platform looks to increase its appeal amongst the dance music community. More proof that streaming is poised to take over DJ booths across the world, a prediction DJ Mag made back in July 2018.
Suicide Club combines DJs with dining, and Dutch reserve with dancefloor enthusiasm. The Groot Handelsgebouw building - an eight-storey office block and an architectural symbol of post-war Rotterdam - is an odd setting for a night that showcases some of Holland's leading underground DJs. But then the Suicide Club is an unusual night. Arriving on the eighth floor we exit the lift facing an open kitchen, food service still in full swing. Ambient jazz fills the air above the murmer of conversation and clatter of plates and glasses. With room for 200, the club is small, with a round bar, decorated in turquoise tiles, in the middle. Wrought iron modular shelving sits above it, a few sections filled with ornate stained glass. Warm, low hanging lights sit above the tables. So far, so gastro. Has this place really played host to the likes of Carista, Luke van Dijk and DJ Deeon (and tonight, local hero De Sluwe Vos)?

The festival has also been labelled Fyre Festival 2 after a chaotic opening night. This weekend Ultra Music Festival descended on Miami for the 21st annual edition of the flagship electronic music event. As with previous years, the festival lined up an all-star cast of global dance music DJs including the likes of Martix Garrix, Carl Cox and David Guetta. However, organisers have been criticised by both fans and DJs for an unusual main stage performance from KFC mascot Colonel Sanders.
Avicii's family have started the Tim Bergling Foundation in support of mental health. The project will initially concentrate on offering support to individuals and organisations in the field of mental health and suicide prevention, before expanding to cover other issues such as climate change, development assistance, nature conservation and the protection of endangered species. Tim wanted to make a difference - starting a foundation in his name is our way to honour his memory and continue to act in his spirit, an official statement from the family said. Until losing his life on 20th April 2018, aged 28, Avicii- AKA Tim Bergling- raised millions for causes such as world hunger and AIDS. The Foundation will ensure the artist's desire to effect positive change can continue. The EDM star was posthumously awarded a Grammy in Sweden last month, and you can still read our tribute to his influence, attitude and output, published in the wake of his death.

Artists are using humour to fight back against monotony in music and beyond. For all its pretentious tendencies, UK dance music was formed with an air of silliness to it. Prodigy anthems took us to outer space with a 'boing' and The KLF mocked music industry absurdity to acid house. The Illegal Rave mixtape series gave us Olympic-themed, Madonna-sampling hardcore in Dry & Roasted's 'It's Like a Dream', and as compiled by Ian McQuaid in 'TV Themes In The Rave', everything from choir boy anthems (X Project's 'Walking in the Air') to the Emmerdale theme tune (Hardcore Rhythm Team's 'Ragga Clash') were made hardcore throughout the '90s.

Dear Secret DJ. I'm aware of the risks of burning out but I'm having some success in getting bookings right now and I just can't bring myself to say no to gigs. It's not that I'm greedy for money (I don't think so, anyway) but I feel like, 'what if this demand doesn't last'? How many gigs are too many? Is it OK to say no, and how do I learn to say it? M, Miami
