5 Minutes with Resonance Records very own Max Chapman.

The last year has seen the rise of Tech House superhero Max Chapman grow from strength to strength. Being picked up by all of the sounds biggest names such as Toolroom, Elrow, Abode, Do Not Sleep, the list goes on. We caught up with Max for 5 minutes to talk about his own imprint 'Resonance Records' and his relationship with us at Label Worx.

For those who don't know Resonance Records, what are the top 5 things people should know?
- Resonance Records is a base for up-and-coming artists as well as established ones.
- We love helping out young talent.
- We release very regularly - usually 1 or 2 times a month.
- We have had artists like Richy Ahmed, Secondcity, Latmun, Detlef and more release with us.
- Our artwork is mint and is done by a very special lady called Kate; you can find her at @leopardslunch on Instagram.

What were the main issues you faced when starting the label?
To be honest, I couldn't believe how easy it was to set up and get things running - plus our first ever release was a 7 track VA and it went to number 1 on releases on Beatport!

Other than the music itself, what do you think is the most important thing to keep on top of when it comes to running a label?
Make sure you meet the deadlines that you set for remixes and release dates or it can cause all sorts of trouble with artists release dates clashing here and there. Other than that - sign good music, have catchy artwork and you're away.

How did you start working with Label Worx?
I started speaking with them because my manager Lee is very close to the guys there. We have only recently started with Label Worx and they are doing a great job of managing the label on the distribution side of things. They are great people and a very hard-working bunch!

How has working with Label Worx affected the way your label operates?
They have done a great job of securing us good features on all of the platforms that we release music with, and they have doubled our sales numbers - so they have made quite an impact to be fair to them.

What has been the biggest change that you have seen from a label perspective since you started Resonance Records?
The biggest change is the way we have grown over the last 5 years, almost naturally as I have never made it a full-time job for myself; it's always had a back seat to my DJ career but I believe that now we are working with Label Worx, Leak Delete and also my new partner George Smeddles, we are going to get this label to where it needs to be.

How will you be adapting to the shift as consumers move towards streaming over downloads?
I'm not 100% sure but let's just say I will be on top of piracy from now on, now that I know what Leak Delete can do for us.

And finally, what should we be looking out for from Resonance over the rest of the year?
You can catch releases from myself, Dale Howard, George Smeddles, Ki Creighton and more.

Head over to Beatport or Traxsource today.

We are proud to welcome 'Bla Bla' to the Label Worx family.

Besides being a solid international music label of head honcho Daniel Sanchez, Bla Bla Music focusses on club nights, weekly podcasts and even a DJ/producer school. It was 8 years ago, when Bla Bla hosted its first club nights in Studio 80 in Amsterdam. These events were highly attended and were a great success, meanly because minimal techno really was booming at that moment. In 2009, Daniel Sanchez decided it was time to expand Bla Bla to an actual electronic music label.
